Education is a fundamental right that establishes the basis for a prosperous and peaceful society. Significant progress has been made in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in terms of expanding educational access, because of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). The GPE has been instrumental in establishing education centres that allow children to learn for the first time, breaking down barriers and opening up new possibilities of opportunity.
The GPE’s dedication to increasing access to education is evident in its efforts to reach the most marginalised children, such as refugees and those living in displacement. The GPE supports education centres in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which not only provides academic learning but also fosters hope and empowerment for previously underserved children.
One such initiative is the Accelerated Education Programme (AEP) Centre, which was established with funding from the Global Partnership for Education and technical assistance from UNICEF. This programme is especially important in areas where poverty and challenging terrain have prevented children from attending school. The AEP model, which relies on community support, exemplifies the collaborative efforts of governments, international organisations, and local communities to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn and develop.

The GPE-supported education centres have an impact not only on academics but also on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s social and economic landscape. By breaking down barriers through education, these initiatives are laying the groundwork for a more inclusive and equitable society in which every child has the opportunity to reach their potential.
