A girl was allegedly murdered by her father and uncle on the orders of a tribal Jirga (assembly of tribal elders) in the Kohistan region of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to reports, an innocent 18-year-old girl was killed in the name of honor after her edited photo with boy went viral on social media.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and the girl’s father and uncle have apparently been arrested.

The killing occurred on November 24th, according to the FIR. According to the FIR, the girl was shot dead inside her residence in Palas Valley, Shriyal village.
Many innocent girls have been killed in that region as a result of the tribal code of life, which is supported by narrow-minded religious interpretation. This is the second times a girl being killed in Kohistan because she appeared in a video. A similar case happened in the region in 2012, when five girls and four boys were killed on the instructions of an illegal Jirga after appearing in a video dancing.
Kohistan is a mountainous region in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province that is separated into two districts: Upper and Lower Kohistan. Tribal honor rules and jirga system is paramount in the area, instead of supreme court in 2019 declared jirgas to be illegal under the constitution of Pakistan.
